Protecting billion-dollar ideas
Ana Juneja created Ana Law to facilitate trademark, patent, and intellectual property law. Opening its doors in 2021, the firm has received more than eight awards and distinctions alongside a 100% client success rate. Juneja was determined to maintain her lean business structure while reducing drag for clients, leading her to explore document signing software that could act as a one-stop shop solution.
The legal industry has developed a reputation for using archaic, outdated technology. And in an industry that typically charges by the hour, efficiency and speed aren't always top of mind. But attorney Ana Juneja knew there was a better way to work with clients: removing incentives to work slowly and embracing new technology as it arises.
Juneja's legal team at Ana Law, now has more than 25 years of combined experience in managing intellectual property law. With more than 6,000 patents filed in 190+ countries, the firm charges flat-rate fees for their undefeated patent, trademark, and copyright work. "I’m incentivized to do things in a more efficient way to get actual results for my clients," Juneja says.
Juneja takes pride in being an important part of the client journey, and believes efficiency is the most effective way to resolve IP cases. And while she's not afraid of adding options to her tech stack, she doesn’t want to increase complexity for her clients. Juneja opened her law firm with only the necessities—Dropbox, a social media account, and a scheduling app—and believes her clients deserve access to simpler technology and processes to navigate intellectual property cases.
The biggest frustration for many of Juneja's clients was a lack of simple document signing. There are dozens of steps involved in traditional document signing, from mailing hard copies of documents to scanning finished work. Leaning on a digital signing tool could streamline much of that, which would benefit her customers and business alike.
"With Dropbox Sign, we don't have to put a lot of barriers in front of people. We're not making people mail things to us—signing documents only takes a single click. We work with a lot of executives and in-house counsel, which means our clients don't have a lot of time to spare. So streamlining everything, making things easy for people, helps them get more done, which they like.”
Seamless signing tools to reduce client overwhelm
Juneja explored several possible options for integrating document signing tools into her business. However, many of these tools proved complex or inefficient, which didn't align with her business approach. Some options, including DocuSign, were too convoluted and difficult to set up. But when she discovered Dropbox Sign, Juneja knew she had the perfect solution.
"All I had to do was put in my email, and then I was ready to go," says Juneja. "I could upload a contract and send it out within two seconds."
Dropbox Sign wasn't Juneja's first experience using a Dropbox service. She had started her business using Dropbox storage for case documents, including NDAs, sale agreements, patent purchases, and licensing agreements. She was eager to sign up for an extension of a service she already used successfully.
The Dropbox Sign integration proved to be very simple. Juneja completed the signup process within minutes, and in the process forged a seamless connection with her existing Dropbox storage. The result was an organized and efficient document signing process her customers could use without visiting a physical office. And Dropbox Sign's mobile-friendly layout enables her clients to easily upload documents while on their mobile devices.
"At other law firms, a paralegal would have to prep, print, and transport documents," Juneja says. "With Dropbox Sign, that entire process happens in two clicks. People can sign documents, click finish, and upload their documents from anywhere. They don't have to worry if their docs are on different devices. Wherever they are, whatever device they're using, Dropbox Sign is functional."
Another benefit of using Dropbox Sign at Ana Law is the additional layer of security. Juneja feels confident in the platform's distributed infrastructure and AES 256-bit encryption. "I don't have to worry about a document falling into the wrong hands," says Juneja. "I don't need to worry about my clients not being protected."
Dropbox Sign also ensures compliance with time and date stamps, and allows Juneja to customize forms to fit her needs. For example, she can require initials on every page to verify a client has read that section.
Improving the client experience with easier documentation
Not only does Juneja have more effective options for storing and signing documents, but she can also create form-fill NDAs and agreements that clients can sign and return almost instantly.
Juneja also leans heavily into automation to make the relationship between storage and signatures even more seamless. First, clients sign specific documentation and send it back for review. Documents then go into client folders so everyone can access the right files at the right time. This end-to-end digital signing process saves up to two people's worth of admin time, allowing Juneja to quickly address client needs without having to print or chase down documents.
"With Dropbox Sign, I've never looked back," Juneja says. "Dropbox does exactly what it says it's going to do, and nobody I've worked with has ever had an issue with it."
Dropbox Sign has allowed Juneja to create a better client experience and simpler admin workflow. She continues to look for new ways to bring automation to her business, and feels confident about her relationship with Dropbox products. The more her organization continues to grow, she says, the more she relies on Dropbox to quickly, effectively, and seamlessly manage documents.
